Abstract
This Energy Insights update and the accompanying PowerPoint document present
the results of the Energy Insights Load Research Salary Survey. Load research
requires a unique set of skills and experience that are not typically required
elsewhere within the utility or in industry in general. As a result, human
resources departments frequently have a difficult time correctly assigning load
research positions to a predetermined set of utility job descriptions or pay
grades, or even to compare with similar positions in other industries.
Recently, Energy Insights has received several member inquiries about
prevailing load research salaries and has conducted ad hoc salary surveys to
help subscribers correctly establish an appropriate salary range. At the fall
2007 meeting of the Western Load Research Association (WLRA), the topic came up
once again. At that point, Energy Insights committed to conduct a more formal
salary survey in conjunction with WLRA.
