Abstract
This Energy Insights report presents the market-sizing and forecast estimates
for the utilities industry in Western Europe for 2007-2012. The analysis is
arranged by major technologies, subindustries (electricity, gas, water, and
other), and top 5 Western European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain,
and the U.K.). " In 2008, total year-end IT spending by WE utilities is
expected to be $8.1 billion, with the majority (55%) of IT spending being
dedicated to IT services," said Roberta Bigliani, EMEA research director,
Energy Insights. "Utilities need to cope with a vast array of policies,
unbundling, market competitiveness, the need for major investments, M&A, and
initiatives ranging from energy efficiency to renewable energy resources to the
intelligent grid. This translates into an estimated 2007-2012 CAGR of 4.1%,
which is above market average."
