Abstract
US demand to reach 1.2 billion pounds in 2011
US demand for specialty silicas is forecast to reach nearly 1.2 billion pounds
in 2011, propelled by growth in fumed and precipitated silicas. In addition,
gains will be fueled by advances in the electronics and rubber industries as
demand for silicas used in chemical mechanical planarization slurries and
silica-reinforced high performance automotive tires continues to rise.
However, success in the specialty silicas market will increasingly depend on
the development and marketing of improved products and new applications, due
largely to market maturity and competition from alternative materials.
