Abstract
US demand to approach $120 billion in 2012
US demand for waste management and remediation services was more than $80
billion in 2007. Through 2012, demand is forecast to increase 6.6 percent per
year, approaching $120 billion. Waste management and remediation services will
benefit from the ongoing need in the US to collect, transport, treat and
dispose of all types of waste. The growing interest in recycling and
composting will also support demand for waste management services. Price
increases are expected to decelerate over the period, primarily becuase of
moderating fuel costs. However, the intense regulatory environment will
continue to increase disposal costs, offsetting lower fuel costs somewhat.
