Abstract
This Financial Insights report looks at the current progress of the technology
drive in Vietnam' s commercial banking sector. The report also focuses on the
state bank' s requirement for banks to install new datacenters according to
recently published guidelines by the end of 2007.
Abhishek Kumar, market analyst for Financial Insights' Asia/Pacific IT
Benchmarking Advisory Service, says, "Despite the progress made in the
modernization process, the technology drive by Vietnam' s banking industry is
hindered by the lack of experienced IT personnel and limited support from upper
management." Kumar continues, "With regard to the state bank' s recent
directives on installing a new datacenter by the end of 2007, the major banks
will undoubtedly have to seek advice and experience from third parties to meet
their deadlines."
