Abstract
The European Commissions commitment to developing renewable energy is likely to be of primary importance for the growth of biomass power plant markets in Europe. Security of energy supply, reduction of emissions and sustainability of power supply are key factors which would contribute to market development. Although the matured markets might decline, the upcoming markets in Western Europe and the East European region comprising the new members of the European Union would help sustain the growth momentum.
