Abstract
The Asia Pacific very small aperture terminal (VSAT) market has seen steady
growth even as other the market in other regions have begun to slow. The total
installed sites for all VSAT applications number over 300,000 in APAC in 2005.
This number is expected to grow to over 900,000 sites by 2012. This represents
a huge opportunity for VSAT equipment vendors and satellite service providers
alike. Faced with a slowing market in North America, APAC will represent the
new battleground for global players. They will face complex and occasionally
protectionist regulations in certain markets such as China, and to an extent,
India. APAC has also produced a few local players that will stand as strong
competition.
