Abstract
This study considers the OE audio market, often drawing comparisons to the
aftermarket side. The study focuses on core issues and provides near- to
mid-term strategic recommendations. Central themes are addressed individually,
focusing on four major topics: source units, speakers, amplifiers, and
satellite/ HD radio. The study leverages proprietary end-user/ consumer data
to support its conclusions. External issues affecting the sector are
addressed, including the spread of compressed-audio players, Bluetooth
technologies, cellular phones, and flash-data devices. The scope of the study
is strategic, while assessing the details of some of today' s major
technologies and their impacts on market shares and growth prospects.
