Abstract
This research service analyzes the U.S. neurostimulation market from 2003 to
2013.
Technology Overview
U.S. Neurostimulation Market
• All neurostimulation devices covered in this report contain the
following components:
- A power source, which is either an implantable pulse generator (IPG) or a
radio-frequency controlled generator (RF). The IPG can contain either a
non-rechargeable or a rechargeable cell.
- Electrodes that provide stimulation to the contact area
- Insulated wires (leads) that conduct the electricity from the power source
to the electrode
Revenue in this market is determined by the five different neurostimulation
segments:
- Spinal cord stimulation (SCS)
- Deep brain stimulation (DBS)
- Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS)
- Sacral nerve stimulation (SNS)
- Gastric electrical stimulation (GES)
