Abstract
This Life Science Insights study focuses on the impact of HCS technologies on
the life science industry, the challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry in
implementing these technologies, and the implications for information
technology. This study discusses the evolution of screening technologies that
include high-throughput screening, cell-based assays, and the emergence of HCS.
Life Science Insights senior research analyst Zachary Zimmerman, Ph.D.,
believes "The high-content screening market will continue to attract attention
and see moderate market growth. IT implications for pharmaceutical
organizations are significant as both internal and regulatory requirements
drive image archival systems to be established. A call is being made for
standardization of images and data sets to enable the technology to become
ubiquitous in the industry."
