Abstract
This Health Industry Insights report is the third of a four-part series on our
healthcare IT maturity model for Western European hospitals; this report
describes the five countries that rank in the middle according to this model.
Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, and Spain are considered followers in
Western Europe with respect to the maturity and pervasiveness of their HIT
environments. Other reports examine the market segmentation of leaders and
laggards.
"France, Spain, Austria, Belgium, and Germany are moving ahead but are slowed
down by the imbalance between central or regional government coordination and
single hospital advances," states Lynne A. Dunbrack, program director, Health
Industry Insights. "However, Spain, with regional governments (CCAA) such as
Extremadura, Andalucia, Catalunya, and Balearic Island, is leaping forward."
