Abstract
This IDC study provides a 2004 year in review and a forecast of the North
American large format printer market for both color and monochrome printers.
The large format printer market continues to see growth, which is driven by the
graphic arts market. Although the CAD segment is mature, it will remain an
important driver for large format shipments.
"Areas to watch within the large format market include growth in 42-44in.,
45-71in. and superwide printer shipments into the graphic arts segment. Helping
to fuel this growth are solvent ink and UV-curable large format printers for
outdoor signage. Also, 24in. graphic arts printer shipments will continue to
see respectable growth. Finally, flatbed devices that enable new applications
will also drive new opportunities in the high end of the market." - Riley
