Abstract
This IDC study gives an overview of the use of printers and MFPs in small and
medium-sized businesses by technology, based on company size and vertical
industry, and examines a number of recent announcements regarding color
printers and MFPs aimed at the SMB market.
"Essentially, all of the roughly 7 million PC-owning small and medium-sized
businesses in the United States also have printers, and three-quarters of
PC-owning SMBs have MFPs," says Merle Sandler, senior research analyst in the
SMB and Home Office services at IDC. "Over the past few years, declining prices
have caused a shift to mono laser technology in SMBs, and the emphasis from
many vendors on color in the office should result in a move to color laser
printers and MFPs."
