Abstract
This IDC study updates the previously published Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan)
Branded Tape Drive 2005-2009 Forecast and Analysis (IDC #AP264100M, June
2005). It relates to the single tape drive market and provides the following
market data:
- A summary of the market in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) in 1H05
- Revenue and unit shipments for the period broken down by country and technology/format
- Forecasts of the market from 2005 to 2009 for the region, as well as a separate section for each of the 12 countries covered in the region, by technology/format
According to Jack Yu, market analyst, IDC Asia/Pacific Storage Research, "The
global single tape drive market bounced back strongly in the first half of 2005
as more businesses have been educated on the benefits and importance of data
backup and archival. The region is also seeing many first-time buyers of tape
drive products. Going forward, however, we are likely to see a decline of
revenues as more organizations consolidate their storage infrastructure and
adopt tape automation solutions. This impact will be compounded by the
commoditization and falling prices of tape products."
