Abstract
This IDC study reviews the New Zealand printer market in 2004 and provides a
five-year outlook through to 2009. All key technology segments such as inkjets
(split by price bands), colour page (including desktop colour laser and solid
ink printers), monochrome laser and impact printers (including both serial
dot-matrix [SDM] and line printers), further segmented by speed, are covered in
detail. Assessments were performed in terms of unit shipment, shipment value,
and installed base for each printer segment. IDC also provides a detailed
analysis of vendor activities during the year.
"Whilst the booming MFP market will continue to erode shipments of
single-function printers, there are still areas of growth within the New
Zealand printer market. Falling average sales values (ASVs) and improving
technologies will continue to open up new opportunities for the laser form
factor, particularly in the colour space, which is expected to increase at a
compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17% throughout the forecast period," says
Liam Gunson, market analyst, Hardware Research, IDC New Zealand.
