Abstract
This IDC study analyzes Japan's network equipment sales channels' current
status and future potential. Many sales channels believe that it will be
difficult for the routers and LAN switches market to expand further in the
future. To maintain business growth, they have to shift their focus to system
development, support services, or other segments like security, Internet
Protocol telephony (IPT), and WLANs. "To successfully navigate the path to new
business domains, it is necessary for sales channels to change and expand their
capabilities. To this end, it is also necessary for them to improve their
project management abilities and standardize their development/design methods,"
says Kenichi Kusano, research analyst, Network Equipment Research, IDC Japan.
