Abstract
This IDC study reviews the New Zealand printer market in 2003 and provides a
five-year outlook through to 2008. All key technology segments such as inkjet
(split by price bands), colour page (including desktop colour laser and solid
ink printers), monochrome laser, and impact printers (including both serial dot
matrix and line printers), further segmented by speed, are covered in detail.
Assessments are performed in terms of shipments, values of shipments, and
installed base of the printer market. IDC also provides a detailed analysis of
vendor activities during the year.
"The overall New Zealand printer market is expected to decline from 2006 to
2010. The inkjet printer market is under greatest threat as a direct result of
a thriving MFP market, cannibalising the single function space. Areas of growth
include the colour page segment, high end monochrome lasers, and photo printers
as technology continues to improve in this segment," says Tim Shepheard,
associate analyst, IDC New Zealand.
