Abstract
This IDC study forecasts the five-year revenue opportunity for fixed-line
telecom equipment in emerging countries for 2006-2010. IDC breaks down these
emerging countries into four major regions: Asia/Pacific, Central Eastern
Europe, Middle East/Africa, and Latin America. Specific country opportunities
are highlighted within each region.
Key questions answered include the following:
- What defines an emerging market?
- What is the emerging market telecom equipment revenue opportunity through 2010?
- Which countries will grow the fastest, and which will continue to struggle?
"Emerging markets have the distinct advantage of not being burdened with the
cost and complexity of replacing large, legacy infrastructures of outdated
technology platforms. This will allow them to move more quickly to an all IP
infrastructure." - David Emberley, IDC research manager, Telecom Equipment
