Abstract
This 2006 distribution study looks at the developing MFP market through six
distribution channels. The information contained in the study is of
distribution channel shares and forecasts for the MFP market in Western Europe,
and is based on the latest 2009 MFP forecast from published printer studies.
The information is provided for all classes of MFP from desktop through to
high-speed. All information is provided for Western Europe, as well as for 16
countries: Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden,
Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal,
Greece, and the Republic of Ireland.
"The channel for MFP devices is continuing to undergo a transition away from
the traditional dealers and VARs into the mainstream 2-tier multinational
distribution model. Some vendors have been very proactive in agreeing contracts
with these major European players while some are seemingly reluctant to move
towards this particular channel, as they fear the loss of their key local
dealers. However, IDC forecasts that the way forward is via distribution as
they offer the vendors a large degree of economies of scale combined with an
even larger coverage of the market under one agreement," said Phil Sargeant,
senior research analyst, European Peripherals.
