Abstract
This IDC study, which is a translation of a Japanese report (IDC #J6030102),
describes the performance of the network-attached storage (NAS) market in Japan
from 2002-2005 and provides a market forecast up to 2009. The market
performances from 2002-2005 and forecast were studied from a revenue and a unit
and terabyte shipment perspective and analyzed by price band and embedded OS
type. The supplier shares from 1H04-1H05 were studied from a revenue and a unit
and terabyte shipment perspective and analyzed by price band and embedded OS
type as well. Forecasts up to 2009 have been provided for each price segment in
terms of revenue and unit shipment.
Masaaki Moriyama, research director, Storage/Server Research, IDC Japan, says,
"Managing the rapidly growing unstructured data and backup and archive
processes will become important storage challenges among corporate users in
Japan. It will become more important than ever for NAS suppliers to create
solutions for the challenges facing users in order to expand business
opportunities in the NAS space."
