Abstract
This IDC study provides an overview of the Australia economy and the country's
ranking amongst the 53 countries examined in the Information Society Index
(ISI). Looking at Australia's place from both global and regional perspectives
helps in painting the picture of the local IT environment and explaining its
significance.
"Australia's place in the global IT market is unique. Being amongst the most
stable and mature IT and telecommunications markets in a relatively immature
region is important, and this study seeks to flesh out the characteristics of
the local market and compare those with the characteristics of the significant
players in the region," says Jean-Marc Annonier, research manager, IT
Spending, IDC Australia.
