Abstract
This IDC study ranks the top 10 services vendors by the three major services
macromarkets of project-oriented, outsourcing, and support and training
services as well as five vertical sectors: financial services, manufacturing
and resources, distribution and services, infrastructure services, and public
sector.
"While the top vendors like IBM, EDS, Accenture, and HP remain strong and
achieve top positions in many vertical sectors, offshore services firms like
Infosys, Wipro, and TCS are climbing up the ranks and appearing in the top 10
spots in a few key sectors such as infrastructure and distribution services,
particularly in project-oriented services markets," states Jony Moe, research
analyst, IDC Services Vertical Views. "Going to market by industry is
particularly important in the services marketplace. In order to deliver real
business value, it is critical for vendors to understand the key challenges
faced by specific industries and develop innovative ways to address those
challenges through the application of IT."
