Abstract
This IDC study is an overview of the major business process outsourcing (BPO)
contracts signed in 2006 in the U.S. market for the four key horizontal
functions of customer care, human resources, finance and accounting (F&A), and
procurement. These segments have driven the greatest activity and interest in
BPO during the past year. This study presents the vertical distribution of
these BPO contracts, investigating the adoption trends and drivers
characterizing different industries.
"Deal activities in 2006 were dominated by a handful of industries. However, a
couple of verticals such as government and healthcare providers are signing BPO
contracts at a higher rate," said Jony Moe, senior research analyst, Services
Vertical Views. "This study examines the different types of deals signed as
well as the industry-specific initiatives driving these deals."
