Abstract
This IDC study presents the top 10 predictions for the information and
communication technology (ICT) in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ for
2008. This study finds that vertical markets will continue to play a major role
throughout 2008, in particular with government spending being accelerated by
the new digital demands of a more IT-savvy population. As vendors, and even
countries, look for new growth segments, they will further drive the technology
value chain up, disrupting the various ecosystems as they go. Emerging markets
will start to show signs of maturity by leapfrogging technologies and adopting
mature market trajectories such as Green IT and Digital Marketplace.
"2008 will continue to be a year of disruption for the ICT industry in APEJ,
with dynamic market changes, driving new or more focused segmentation," says
Graeme Muller, managing director, IDC Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).
