Abstract
This IDC study looks at the worldwide and U.S. PC client sub form factor market
by commercial and consumer segments out to 2011. Sixteen subcategories are
tracked, and their shipments are estimated.
"The market is going through a phase of tremendous growth as PCs shift from
productivity tools to lifestyle devices. As the market goes through this
growth, the form factors of PCs are changing dramatically. The most noticeable
is the emergence of notebooks as the dominant PC form factor over desktops. But
more subtly, within the desktop and notebook markets, new sub form factors or
varieties of desktops and notebooks are developing to better meet the needs of
