Abstract
This IDC study examines the technologies of the major vendors of Chinese IC
design houses (so-called fabless semiconductor companies), integrated device
manufacturers (IDMs), and foundries. This study includes IDC' s survey of
Chinese fab status, major technology segments, and major business segments.
Additionally, the study includes an assessment of the competitive landscape,
providing guidance on the positioning of key players in the IC design and IDM
marketplace.
"Semiconductor manufacturing technologies in China are apparently behind those
in the United States, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. However, to enhance corporate
competence and incubate more talent for worldwide competition, suppliers must
inevitably include China as part of their global strategy," said Patrick Liao,
research manager, Asia/Pacific Semiconductors, IDC.
