Abstract
This IDC study examines the state of the enterprise IP telephony market' s
development in New Zealand. It provides an insight into how IP telephony
vendors and other solutions providers playing in this market tackle challenges
they face when promoting unified communications (UC) solutions. The overview of
what has happened in the last year is complemented with the future outlook and
IDC' s predictions of where the local market will move over the next five years.
"The value proposition of IP telephony is increasingly around functionality,
rather than just cost savings. The development of UC will shape the market,
with vendors aiming to become service providers instead of simple box pushers,"
says Tim Shepheard, market analyst, Telecommunications, IDC New Zealand.
