Abstract
This IDC study looks at the role of consulting and integration (C&I) services
within the IT market as a whole, and within the context of the local New
Zealand market. In New Zealand, C&I activities are often heavily influenced by
other events happening in the marketplace. This study provides an assessment of
key issues in the ecosystem, as well as the nature of the interaction between
these factors and the subsets of the C&I market, namely - IT consulting,
systems integration (SI), network consulting and integration (NCIS), and custom
application development (CAD). This study looks at the causes and effects of
these changing dynamics within the New Zealand C&I market. This allows a deeper
insight into the C&I market, as many of the trends assessed are also seen on a
regional and global level; therefore, this study takes into account the impacts
of key market dynamics such as size on global C&I services trends.
"The status of the market in 2005 saw a clear division in terms of the players
within the market, with only one or two large players dominating the market and
a number of players vying for pole position within the tier 2 space. IDC
believes that the changes occurring within the market at present will radically
alter this view of the landscape over the coming years. Differentiation will
become a critical factor, which should see a number of players evolving its
position within the market," says Jenna Griffin, senior market analyst,
Services Research, IDC Asia/Pacific.
