Abstract
This IDC study presents our top 10 predictions for the Canadian information
communications and technology (ICT) market in 2008. The predictions draw upon
existing IDC research from both demand- and supply-side analysis. These
predictions are based on input from IDC analysts both in Canada and around the
world. Our predictions focus on 2008 but often have a longer-term impact. These
predictions were originally presented in a Webcast on January 17th, 2008 (see
IDC Canada Predictions 2008, IDC #CA7ICTE8, January 2008, for the replay). This
document provides additional detail around these predictions, the results of
our live poll questions, and the answers to other questions posed during the
Web conference.
"The continuing evolution of the ICT market is a constant; the ability to
recognize those changes early enough to make the right investments decisions is
a critical skill. This applies both to providers and to buyers. Those
organizations that take a lead at understanding new approaches to computing
will have a head start in either implementing new technologies in their
organizations or positioning it in the marketplace," says Vito Mabrucco, senior
vice president, worldwide consulting and managing director, IDC Canada.
