Abstract
This IDC study looks at unified communications (UC) and voice over IP (VoIP)
migration, which is increasingly pervasive in the enterprise. A recent IDC
survey revealed the differences in adoption rates of UC and VoIP in the
enterprise and analyzed how different technology choices impact customer
preferences for network support vendors.
"Vendors must understand that customers no longer purchase support for UC the
same way they did for the corporate PBX system," said Matt Healey, research
manager of IDC' s Software and Hardware Support Services program. "To capture a
larger share of the UC support market, vendors must develop a strong reputation
for being able to provide exceptional multivendor support for both IT and
network infrastructures."
