Abstract
This IDC Insight provides an overview of the challenges that IT organizations
face today with the ongoing operations of their datacenters. This Insight
provides an overview of how organizational business models are driving higher
rates of IT adoption and the implications this has on the maintenance costs of
the datacenter. IDC believes that a true datacenter transformation is taking
place and that IT organizations will continue to consolidate the number of
sites and number of supported systems and will increasingly place greater
emphasis on energy efficiency, and this will consequently have a great impact
on the operations and economics for the datacenter of the future. All of these
changes are driving customers to consider a full set of datacenter services,
including traditional consolidation services, datacenter planning, design and
construction services, and thermal assessment services.
