Abstract
This IDC study provides an overview of the security services market in
Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) in terms of market size, trends, developments,
drivers, and future growth, including a five-year forecast for 2007-2011. The
study also provides recommendations for security service providers to better
compete in the ANZ security services market.
The security services market in ANZ is highly fragmented, with a number of
large and small vendors targeting disparate market segments. Players range from
one-man shops, specialist security services firms, systems integrators,
telecommunications firms and network providers, outsourcers and security
product vendors - all fighting for share of wallet. The managed security
services (MSS) space is particularly crowded with a number of disparate
players. As a result, the security services market is expected to be highly
competitive even if, in many cases, service providers are approaching the
market in unique ways, targeting different segments and installed bases of
customers, and hence often compete indirectly rather than head-to-head. "Having
said that, end-to-end security service providers are in a strong position as
customers often prefer a single trusted advisor that can provide end-to-end
solutions and advice", says Patrik Bihammar, senior analyst, Security
Solutions, IDC ANZ.
