Abstract
The IDC study presents the results of IDC' s Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan)
Enterprise Communications Survey, 2007 conducted in 11 markets. The survey
findings reveal the adoption pattern of basic as well as advanced enterprise
mobility applications and the key drivers and inhibitors for enterprise
mobility. The survey results also show whether the enterprises are using the
cellular/mobile network or WLAN for accessing these applications. Additionally,
the study offers insights on deployment patterns, company policies on mobile
devices, and spending patterns of enterprises. The survey results are
segmented by country, industry vertical, and company size to provide further
insights on enterprise mobility trends in the region.
"In 2007, some of the advanced markets such as Singapore and Taiwan seem poised
to adopt more advanced enterprise mobility solutions beyond mobile email, voice
conferencing, and instant messaging", says Shalini Verma, research manager,
Communications, IDC Asia/Pacific. "The use of mobile network far exceeds that
of WLAN for basic enterprise mobility applications, which is not necessarily
the case for advanced enterprise mobility applications such as track-and-trace
applications," she adds.
