Abstract
This IDC study provides a detailed description of IDC' s security solutions
taxonomy for Australia and New Zealand in 2008. The 2008 taxonomy has been
updated to reflect on the evolving security market, and incorporates security
software, hardware, and services.
"The security solutions market is an important area of research for IDC. As the
market continues to develop and converge, it is becoming more difficult to
distinguish between functional markets and form factors. We can no longer view
markets in their isolation; we need to research them both from the perspective
of their functionality and how they are being deployed. The security software,
hardware, and services markets have discrete and separate drivers and
inhibitors, but are also converging; for this reason, it is important to also
consider how these markets intersect from a solutions perspective," says Patrik
Bihammar, senior analyst, Security and System Management Solutions, IDC
Australia and New Zealand.
