Healthcare in Canada: Use of IT in Canada and Western Europe Very Similar

Abstract

This IDC study reflects on the similarities between ehealth and other IT activities in healthcare in Europe and in Canada. The study considers where the emphasis is likely to be in 2008 and beyond and provides insights into specific relevant activities that are planned or under way, particularly in Europe.

"The healthcare environments in Western Europe and in Canada have many similarities, albeit with some key differences in organizational models, staffing structures, and so on. Both healthcare executives and IT vendors in Western Europe and in Canada should maintain a close watch on activities, progress, lessons learned, and planned initiatives in both locations. Cross-fertilization would be beneficial to all parties," said Jan Duffy, senior analyst, Healthcare, IDC Canada, and research manager, Health Industry Insights, EMEA.
