Abstract
This IDC study provides a description of the China healthcare industry IT
solution market and an analysis of competition in it in 2007. This study
addresses the status of, trends in, and future developments in the China
healthcare industry. It also provides the total China healthcare industry IT
spending for the next five years and the market revenue from major IT product
categories. It also provides forecasts the various healthcare informatization
solutions.
"As healthcare system reforms gain more depth in China, the country will
allocate more investments to the healthcare industry, causing all hospitals as
well as community and public healthcare facilities to increase their
investments in informatization and shares in the total healthcare industry IT
spending every year. In 2007, breakthroughs were made in digital hospital
integration platforms and community healthcare informatization. Large hospitals
are transitioning from hospital IS (HIS) to clinical IS (CIS) construction
while HIS begin to reach out to small and medium-sized hospitals. According to
IDC forecasts, within the next five years, integration platform-based digital
hospitals will rapidly develop and community and public healthcare
informatization will become more in-depth, leading GMIS toward a stage of
practical use. These will expand the market for all kinds of IT product such as
software, hardware, and services, offering enormous market opportunities to a
large number of IT manufacturers," says Leon Xiao, analyst, Vertical Industry
Research, IDC China.
