Abstract
This IDC study identifies key broadband service providers in four Central
European countries - the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. Service
providers are profiled according to indicators such as ownership structure,
network technology, coverage, number of broadband connections, and sample
tariffs for broadband access services. Fixed wireless providers are also
profiled according to licenses held and bandwidth available for each license.
The focus is primarily related with the main technologies, namely: DSL, cable,
fixed wireless, metro Ethernet. Other technologies such as WiFi are also
included. In addition to identifying key service providers, the study analyzes
broadband market trends for Q2 2007, including market size and penetration
rates.
"Broadband markets in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and particularly
Slovakia are highly competitive, thanks to price cuts and bandwidth increases.
The full potential of content services, however, has yet to be exploited." -
