Abstract
This IDC study provides an update on the fixed-line telecom data network
services market in the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ region. Market
sizing is provided for 2006 and 2007, while forecast data is provided for the
2008-2012 period. The countries covered in this study are Australia, Hong
Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, the People' s Republic
of China (PRC), Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.
"Although migration from traditional data services to IP-based solutions gains
pace, revenues from leased lines and frame relay continue to account for over
50% of the region' s corporate data services market; and this trend will
continue until 2011. Even though these services are in their sunset stage,
they have staying power because end users perceive them to be more secure and
reliable, and because selected operators continue to push these services as
margins are more attractive when compared with IP-based solutions," says
Dorothy Chan, senior research manager, Communications, IDC Asia/Pacific.
