Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J7030105)
analyzes the current status and characteristics of security services provided
by Japan carriers as well as their future directions based on findings obtained
through interviews with leading carriers in Japan. This study also presents
market analysis of major security service categories as well as 2006(2011
market forecast.
"The market size of security services provided by Japan carriers is steadily
growing, thanks to the implementation of the Personal Information Protection
Law and the need for compliance reinforcement. In order to increase revenue,
service providers including carriers should ( when targeting SMB ( provide
products and set up sales channels in line with the current trend of security
products/services becoming more like commodities. When targeting large
companies, service providers can differentiate their products/services apart
from those of competitors by providing expertise to cater to individual users'
risks and security requirements," observes Akiko Kawakami, market analyst,
Communications, IDC Japan.
