Abstract
This IDC study is based on a survey conducted in the first quarter of 2008 with
the help of more than 100 enterprise applications vendors that have provided
names of customers, products purchased, and other relevant details - such as
net new versus existing customers, size of customers, and customer location -
either through company announcements or individual interviews with IDC.
Enterprise applications vendors scored more than 800 customer wins in the first
quarter of 2008, suggesting that the buying activity went unchecked despite
economic obstacles.
Albert Pang, director of Enterprise Applications Research, said, “The next few
quarters might pose new challenges as many of the recently completed deals
received the approval prior to the credit crunch. Still, clever packaging of
high-performance applications, coupled with favorable conditions in
fast-growing countries as well as small and midsized businesses, will help
sustain the market momentum.”
