Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J8110103)
presents the report of the Japan storage software market revenue in first half
of 2007 and the revenue forecast for 2007-2001. IDC classifies the storage
software market into eight submarkets:
- Data protection/recovery software
- Storage replication software
- Archive/HSM (Hierarchical Storage Management) software
- Storage management software
- Storage device management software
- Storage infrastructure software
- File system software
- Other storage software
An analysis is conducted for the various submarkets. IDC also conducted
analyses of the market size and market trends for the different operating
systems (i.e., mainframes, Unix, Windows, and Linux).
"The proliferation of data retained in companies will certainly continue to
rise, and investment in storage software will increase as companies seek to
reduce the amount of workload that results from data proliferation. Storage
software market will continue to expand because of the establishment of an
environment that allows companies to reap returns from their investment in
software. To maximize their returns on their investment, it is important that
vendors have a long-term plan that takes into account various requirements such
as internal controls, business continuity and reduction of operation costs,"
observes Yasusuke Suzuki, research manager, Storage Systems, IDC Japan.
