Abstract
This IDC study represents a comprehensive analysis and forecast of vertical IT
spending in New Zealand for the 2008-2012 period, including historical data and
the 2007 market size. Providing a detailed breakdown of IT investment across
several industries, this study is a helpful guide for IT vendors explaining
which path the future demand will go and what will influence end users' IT
purchases. The following combined vertical markets are covered by analysis of
this study: (1) finance, (2) manufacturing, (3) distribution, (4) education,
(5) healthcare, (6) government, (7) communications and media, and (8) others
that comprises the construction, consumer segment, resources, services,
transportation and travel, and utilities vertical markets.
"Developing a targeted vertical strategy is only the first step for IT vendors
when seeking to understand their customers better. Whilst vendors tout their
relationship approach to sales, they are often found lacking when it comes to
intimate knowledge of customers," said Stefan Nordbruch, associate analyst, PC
and Monitor Research, IDC New Zealand.
