Abstract
This IDC study presents relational database management systems (RDBMS) software
revenue with vendor, regional, and operating environment shares in that market,
and a brief profile of each of the top 5 vendors. "2007 was a year that saw
continued steady growth in the relational database management systems market,
with plenty of dynamism up and down this important market," says Carl Olofson,
research vice president for IDC' s Information Management and Data Integration
software research program. "The leading vendors have put an increased emphasis
on performance and manageability as well as greater flexibility and utility of
such features as standby databases, while other more niche vendors emphasize
unique pricing, performance, and scaling capabilities."
