Abstract
This document analyzes the Western European cable modem equipment market in
2007. It focuses on vendor market shares for both cable modem termination
systems (CMTS) on the operator side and cable modems on the end-user side.
Vendors' market shares are calculated according to unit shipments and end-user
revenues. In addition, vendors' shares are divided on a country-by-country
basis.
As growth rates for the level of broadband subscribers are decreasing, the
market for cable modem equipment is increasingly driven by replacement and
network upgrades, said Jan Hein Bakkers, research manager at IDC. "VoIP and
increasing bandwidth are key accelerators behind this development," he said.
