Abstract
This 2007 distribution study looks at the developing MFP market through six
distribution channels. The information contained in the study is of
distribution channels shares and forecasts for the MFP market in Western
Europe, and is based on the latest 2009 MFP forecast from published printer
studies. The information is provided for all classes of MFP, from desktop
through to high-speed. All information is provided for Western Europe, as well
as for 16 countries; Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, the
Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Austria,
Spain, Portugal, Greece, and the Republic of Ireland.
"One of the major changes seen in the composition of the European MFP market in
recent times is the acquisition of parts of the channel by the vendors
themselves, namely the copier vendors purchasing parts of the VAR channel to
gain access to large installed bases, to gain a direct sales force, and to help
their competitors channel. Vendors have also gained possession of software and
solution developers that help them to plug gaps in their portfolios and offer a
full package to their customers. This gives them true multifunctionality," said
Phil Sargeant, research manager, Imaging Hardware and Document Solutions, IDC.
