Abstract
This IDC study presents an annual update to the five-year forecast for China' s
business process outsourcing (BPO) and processing services markets. Identified
in this study are market opportunities of five key business functions (i.e.,
procurement, finance and accounting, customer care, training, and human
resources) and seven vertical processing services (i.e., bill processing, card
processing, claims processing, data management, loan service, payment
processing, and policyholder processing) in China. An overview of the
competitive landscape is also provided as are recommended strategies for
service providers.
"In its early stages, the China BPO market will struggle with market acceptance
and service quality," says Vivian Yu, senior research analyst, Software and
Services Research, IDC China. "Compared with the processing services market,
which reached $1.68 billion in 2007 and is expected to reach US$4.11 billion by
2012, the China BPO market (i.e., the customer care, finance and accounting,
human resources, training, and procurement segments) totaled $1.06 billion and
is expected to increase to $2.93 billion, with a CAGR of 22.6%, for the same
period."
