"Vendors are having mixed fortunes in the hardcopy market. The mainstream
players are facing increasing competition in markets that they once dominated
while others are quite content to remain in their well-defined niche markets
and reap the benefits of years of investment. But it' s in the color office
markets where vendors' successes and failures are being mooted and publicized.
This is where the major growth rates will occur over the forecast period and
unless some vendors gain a strong foothold soon, they risk being frozen out and
confined to more mature markets," said Phil Sargeant, research manager,
European multifunction peripherals, IDC.
