Abstract
This study discusses the market for hardcopy peripherals - single function and
multifunction. It does not cover point-of-sale printers or small-format
printers featuring widths of less than eight inches. Neither does it cover
wide-format (A0) products, sometimes known as plotters. The forecasts contain
data for the Nigerian peripherals market from 2008 through 2012. Unit shipment,
value of shipment, and average street price (ASP) information is presented.
Data for 2006-2007 is actual, whereas data for 2008-2012 is projected.
"Vendors should strongly consider establishing a direct presence in the market.
With a local office, a vendor is better able to address the market' s needs and
take share away from domestic players. Vendors should also make efforts to
simplify their channel structures, ensure the wide availability of consumables,
and provide after-sales support in the country. These actions will all help to
reduce the impact of the gray market and enable vendors to gain more control
over the shipments of their products in the region. A focus on the SMB segment
would also be beneficial, following the government' s decision to empower SMBs
in order to reduce poverty and corruption in the country." - Fikayo Aremu,
