This IDC study provides our second projection for the emerging software
appliance marketplace.
"As one might expect, early software appliance new license shipments will be
dominated by IT- and Web infrastructure-oriented workloads," says Brett
Waldman, research analyst, system software. "Yet, contrary to one' s intuition,
software appliance revenue will be dominated by more complex, high revenue
workloads such as business processing and collaborative appliances."
