Abstract
In 2006, annual mobile phone production volume in China reached 460 million
units. This figure represented an increase of 53.5% compared to 2005; China' s
share of total global mobile phone production rose from 37.5% in 2005 to 46.7%
in 2006. Leading international mobile phone vendors have been expanding their
mobile phone production capacity in China, such as Nokia and Sony Ericsson in
Beijing, Motorola and Samsung in Tianjin. The role that China plays within the
global mobile phone supply chain is becoming steadily more important. The
development of mobile phone industry clusters within China has stimulated the
growth of the mobile phone component industry. This report will examine the
current state of mobile phone IC, structural component, optoelectronic
component, application module, and functional component production in China.
